Virginia Logos Eligibility Criteria

Gas

    Category I
    • Continuous operation at least 16 hours per day, 7 days per week
    • Provide fuel, oil, tire repair service or information on available tire repair service in area
    • Provide compressed air for tire inflation and free water for battery and radiator
    • Provide drinking water and cups
    • Provide restroom facilities
    • Each service may be displayed on up to 2 signs with a maximum of 24 total business logo panels being displayed per direction, if space permits. Please contact us for more information regarding the roll-over policies.
    • Maximum distance of service: 3 miles
    Category II
    All of the above except:
    • 12 hours per day
    • 7 days per week

    Two spaces are reserved for establishments with 24-hour, 7 days per week operations.

Food

    Category I
    • Be in continuous operation, 12 hours per day, 6 days a week, open by 7 a.m.
    • Display hours of operation appropriately and conspicuously
    • Display valid permit from the State Board of Health in accordance with Section 35.1-18 of the Code of Virginia
    • Shall have a menu available
    • Shall have and keep in place easily accessible indoor seating at tables or counters to comfortably seat a minimum of 20 adult people

    • Maximum distance of service: 3 miles
    Category II
    All of the above except:
    • 6 hours per day, 6 days per week;

Lodging

    Category I
    • Continuous 24 hour operation, 7 days per week;
    • Possess valid permit to operate by the State Board of Health in accordance with Section 35.1-18 of the Code of Virginia
    • Provide a minimum of 10 lodging rooms with off street parking for each room

    • Maximum distance of service: 3 miles
    Category II
    All of the above except:
    • 4 or more rooms for rent

Camping

  • Continuous 24 hour operation, 7 days a week: Seasonal closing up to 120 consecutive days from Nov.1 to Apr. 1.
  • Possess valid permit to operate by the State Board of Health in accordance with Section 35. 1-18 of the Code of Virginia
  • Provide overnight accommodations
  • Provide space for not less than 10 camping spaces for rent or hire
  • Provide off street parking for each overnight camping space

  • Maximum distance of service: 15 miles

Attractions

  • Open at least 8 hours per day, 5 days per week during normal operating season
  • Possess licensing or have approval where required
  • Utilizing no other supplemental guide signs at same location
  • Provide sanitary restroom facilities
  • Provide adequate parking
  • Be of regional interest to the traveling public and on the approved list of eligible facilities
  • Must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for one of the types of facilities listed as an “Acceptable Site”

In cases of dispute or other disagreement with the rules, regulations, policies, procedures and criteria, the decision of the State Traffic Engineer shall be final and binding.
